In March, the school's 8 class students gave a great gift to school – the corner of sitting bags for students to relax, to cope with stress. The part of the sitting bags students sewed themselves, and part was bought. After testing it appeared that students’ own sitting bags are more comfortable and more consistent with students' needs and expectations.
Students can relax and rest, recuperate quickly, anywhere in the school area. If you have a few spare minutes to distance yourself from the environment, to concentrate, relax and rest in a comfortable position very well we can do it in our daily environment, even in the hall.

In March 22nd-27th ROHROL trip took place in the Turkish city of Alanya. There were five teachers and three students. We travelled by plane to Istanbul. When flying over the city of Istanbul we admired the majesty of the city and when the children got off the plane they immediately saw the palm trees. We flew from Istanbul to Antalya, and from Antalya to Alanya. We went by bus. At night we reached the hotel, where we waited for Alanya school project coordinator and the families, who accommodated our students for the whole stay.

In Turkey we met with Lithuanian community member of Alanya Indre and her husband, Mustafa. For their weekend Lithuanian school we gave books about Vilnius and about Kaziukas fair and coloring books for the little ones. This beautiful family invited us to stay, showed us how the Turks treat tea, sweets and fruits.

At school all the delegations met the beautiful Turkish children in folk dance costumes. The meeting was held with six other delegations. The head teacher told us about their school, teachers guided students after school, showed classes, participated in the lessons and the students of all the countries played project participants’ games.

We also met the Mayor of Alanya in his headquarters. Reception was warm. All received a gift bag with a book of Alanya, a notepad, a pen. Our project coordinator Ilona presented a gift and a letter to the mayor of Alanya from the Mayor of Vilnius. In another building, we were received by the Alanya district governor. Fruit tea, juice, goodies were served.

In the center of Culture we watched children's shows of project partner schools. We saw Turkish folk dances, listened to Turkish music and songs. The teachers sang songs and senior class students played a legend, which showed how people eating unhealthily get fat, become ill, and how healthy exercise, running, healthy diet make you healthy.

During the trip, not only we learned about the Turkish education system, but also participated in the international marathon "Run to become healthy." At school we exchanged with each other shirts that we brought. Dressed in T-shirts  all participants ran - children of foreign countries and teachers, Alanya school children. Running was along a beautiful Mediterranean coast. Everyone had fun.

We visited the rocky hill where the city had a fortress with a 6-km-long defensive wall. On the way up the mountain on a winding road by bus we enjoyed the spectacular scenery.

It was interesting to visit a mosque. We also visited Side town with  the ancient ruins. We enjoyed the columns, various fragments, the market remains, an ancient theatre and the temple of Apollo and Athena.

The students saw the lives of Turkish children, made friends with them, and when we had to say goodbye it was sad. Although our journey back to Lithuania started very early, at 4 in the morning a lot of people came to see us off. We started our long journey home. Everyone had a lot of fun.

In February our school students learned to play Lithuanian playground games.  7th form student Ieva Maciulyte and Victoria Jankauskaite prepared a presentation of selected games in English. Lithuanian outdoor games will be presented at the meeting in March in Alanya.

Of all the prepared shirt sketches Tomas Suliukas design (5c class pupil) was recognized the best. Our team’s T-shirt for healthy running in Turkey will be produced according to this sketch.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  In January 2015, the interpretations of the healthiest legend took place. The winners were Class 8b. This performance will be presented during the meeting in Turkey.

We noticed children's interest and positive attitude towards the integration of managing stress into ethical and religious education lessons in January. Students not only discovered new ways to relax, but also successfully tested it in their lessons.
During the meeting in Turkey students will teach each other outdoor folk games. Each country must send three presentations of games. Our primary school teacher R. Stasiuniene and her students played games during physical education classes, and chose the games which will be presented in Turkey.

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In December, the initiative group proposed to integrate slides that were prepared in spring, to integrate into ethical and religious education lessons. The slides are about the management of stress. This helps students to understand better their feelings and teach appropriate behavior in the face of stressful situations.
8th grade students replaced the traditional Christmas performances with the interpretations of Lithuanian legends about healthy lifestyle. The students prepared them very seriously and performed to the school community on 19th December. The performances were videotaped, and the best performance will be presented in Turkey during the visit.

On October 10-17 there was a poster exhibition "In a garden grows - protects health". This exhibition was dedicated to the national day of healthy food. The posters were created and drawn by the students from the 8th grade. The aim of the exhibition was to encourage school community to eat a lot more seasonal vegetables and fruits. The students were looking for the information about positive things of fruits and vegetables, painted pictures that drew attention and created some fun slogans on their own.

October 24th - 28th the team of our school participated in the meeting of project partners in Slovenia.
October 20th, Monday. And here it is! The trip day has come.  After checking our suitcases a few times, we looked up at the presents we are bringing. Hoping that we didn‘t forget anything!
At the airport, saying goodbye to our relatives, and saying that it’s going to be okay, we go through the security point. One more hour and… goodbye, Lithuania. Brussels is quite calm, once again we are going through the security point and after two hours we are in the airport of Zagreb. It’s already evening, it is dark, our eyes are looking for an exit. Ooh, here is the Estonian group waving to us. We all find the driver, which is going to take us to our final point – Skocjan, in one hour. While in the bus, the heads are swinging, the eyes are tired, but we still need to cross the border. They check our passports formally, and we‘re in Slovenia! In the city’s bus station, the families, that are going to take the students, are waiting for us, we split apart quickly. It’s 22:30 in Slovenia (23:30 in Lithuania). Tomorrow is going to be a new day.
October 21st, Tuesday. We get a good breakfast and we meet in the lobby of the hotel. We say hello to other groups from different countries and we go to the Skocjan school. The weather here is warm, it reminds us the spring. Skocjan is a small town, more likely a village, with 3000 people and a 9-year-old school and a kindergarten. The school is impressing – new, colourful… Like a real leader comes out the principal and without any ceremonies invites us in. Dressed up in traditional clothes, the students are greeting us with bread and salt. We immediately notice the ROHROL sign. While they lead us to the teacher’s room, our heads gets dizzy from lots of pictures, paintings, posters and stands. We don’t get enough time to get pictures of everything. It is ery warn and cozy – that’s the first impression.
When we all get a seat in a modern teacher’s room, principal talks about Slovenian education system and tells us more about this school. The school isn’t big, with 380 students and 140 children in the kindergarten. 5 kilometers away 30 more students travel to school’s subsidiary, old, but not less modernized. The primary school has a library, cafeteria, IT class, technology class, modern chemistry, music and art class. The school takes part in a lot of projects about health and healthy life, volunteering, safe traffic, “Step after step” and “Comenius“. All of the partner countries give their gifts to the school principal.

After the presentation we go to school hall – cafeteria, where all the school community meet us. A performance changes a performance, a dance – a dance, a song changes a song. At the end of the concert, we go to the classes of the school, where we meet teachers and students. On the wall, we see the flags of the partner countries, there are also greetings and posters about healthy life and food. And in every class there is a colorful ROHROL motto. It is nice. We see that the whole school is into the project. When we go to the school subsidiary in Bučka – again, there is a meeting, short concert and a look and the school‘s enviroment.

Later  we go to Mayor‘s office, where we are greeted  by the community members, and after that we get another warm greeting from the Mayor. We present the gifts and get a taste of goulash from cups made from bread. Similar to Lithuanian cousine, just that Lithuanians prepare boletus soup. After that, we visit the place‘s farmer market, which sell baskets, biscuits, honey and grape vine.
After lunch, we are invited to a chestnut festival. The teachers from the school, after work, join us.
We shell cooked chestnuts, get a taste of unseen, traditional pies, share our impressions, talk about education systems in other countries.
When we get back, coordinators meet to talk about and edit project plans and jobs.
The night was incredibly stormy with tropical rains. “It‘s better to rain at night, than during the day”, we think, because tommorow a trip starts.
22nd of October, Wednesday. We are wake up friskly just because this day seems to be no less interesting. While going by bus we see Slovenian landscape, which is hilly, and the outcomes of the rain – huge floods in the fields, city streets and roads. Imperceptably, we  climbed the mountains then visited the cave of Postojna. In order to enter it we have to go 2km up to the cave by train. It is strange  for  Lithuanians,  we see fantastic stalactites, stalagmites and incredible figures fly through the eyes. It is overwhelmingly pretty and astonishing. Delighted, we follow the guide, who shows millenial sculptures of nature – a sitting parrot, turtle, little angels, love birds,  a spaghetti hall, even a rhino. When we walked to a little aquarium, we watch unique little lizards, which already became a symbol of this cave. The train shoots up again and we talk about the cave in a warm bus. We were running fast to the most beautiful in the whole Slovenia - Predjama castle, which is sort of poised on a rock. As it rises from a mountain, the castle stands here nearly 700 years and has a legend of itself.
Time is flying by and we have to visit Lubliana. Far from behind, Lubliana castle welcomes us. The history teacher proudly shows us local famous places– university, parliament, city hall, public library, fountain which represents three rivers. Rapid river of Liubliana, which flows through the city, has many beautiful bridges and cozy cafes on a clean and tidy shore.
It is a pity, but we have to go back to our hotel.

23rd of October, Thursday. This day is dedicated to feel the life in school. It happened to be the day dedicated for a healthy lifestyle. While we were walking from class to class we can see how pupils are taught to bake bread, learn about buckwheat, that are very popular among Slovenian, play circles, sing. In the other classes we find desks that are put away and pupils lying on the ground, doing massages to each other, stretching. We were fascinated by a chemistry teacher, who was doing yoga with her students. And there was not an obstacle for a kid with a broken leg to that too! In the other class students were discussing harmful effects of drugs. The participants of the project were making an audio – dictionary, giving interview, baking healthy cupcakes from vegetables, paticipating in an indoor competition.

After saying our goodbyes to students and teachers, we went to the last dinner. We were amazed that Slovenians, just like Lithuanians, are very hospitable – table is full of delicious food again. Even though both countries are far away from each other, they have similar cuisines – cabbage soup, blood – pudding, roasted chicken, stew sauerkraut, sausages, mashed potatos and beans. IT teacher takes out his accordion.
It‘s time to say goodbye. We wish each other all the best, say big thanks for a time spent together. We are willing to meet again. We bring amazing memories about warm people, beautiful country and open hearts back home.
24th of October, Friday.Early morning is rainy again. After 12 hours flight plane lands at Vilnius airport. We go back to reality with for a fresh start, full of ideas, hoping to do something good and meaningful, looking forward to the next meetings.

Impressions from Slovenia

On  20-24th of October I was in Slovenia. I want to say a big  thanks the family where I lived for the week and felt like at home.

It was very interesting to learn about Slovenian school and schoolchildren, see their lessons and compare our schools. I learnt that they had a project day about healthy food and life. We made tasty smoothies together. It was fun. The children were very friendly. After the lessons we played in the playground, visited the monastery and went to Novo mesto.

One day we visited the Postojna cave. It was very interesting to see special animals, like lizards, which live in the cave. I have never seen shapes of stalactites or stalagmites before. They were magnificent. Then we went to a big mistery Predjama castle. I was impressed by the construction of the Castle. It was very interesting and strange. The castle and mountain were like one thing. I learnt that back then people used the mountain and the castle to escape if they were attacked. Finally, we visited Liubliana, the capital city of Slovenia. It is a very nice and young city. I liked walking around the Old City.I saw the important buildings such as the Parliament, the Town Hall, the Library, lots of bridges and the others.

Thanks for this amazing project and the opportunity to know a new country and meet new wonderful people.

Ugnius

 2013-2014 May-June

In June teachers who returned from London shared their experiences. Teachers Ilona Petrikiene, Robertas Vaitkus, Inga Domarkaite showed pictures and talked about the TTA school life. The teacher Ilona presented TTA HOUSE school education system, which has left a huge impression. Sipping tea and tasting cakes teachers listened to the presentations. It was told about the school environment, spectacular art and technology classes as well as sport fields. There was much debate about division of school into colleges according to the colors (like in the book “Harry Potter”) as well as communication and collaboration between younger and older students. Students’ performance is made public in the field, which they are good at. We realized that the British cherish their old values and traditions, and their system is able to meet the present day needs of the education and integration of children of immigrants from different countries.
London left a good impression because of the amount of parks, which are very carefully maintained, and impressive historical and tourist sites, museums and art galleries.

On June 3rd  physical education teachers organized an event of health and fitness for grades 6-8.  The experience of the Olympic Games in London was used. Students tried their skills in these unconventional sports: floor hockey, discgolf, volleyball with bedding, a "miniature” golf with cricket bats. The winners were classes 6b, 7c and 8a.
